This year Catechetical Sunday will focus on the theme, "The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church." Those who serve as catechists in the Catechetical Ministry, RCIA, Children's Liturgy and Faith Formation Ministry in our Parish will be called forth to be commissioned on Sun, 11 Jan at the 11am Mass. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel as well as to rededicating himself or herself to this mission as a community of faith.

Catechism classes begin on the weekend of 31 Jan/1 Feb 2009. All students who have registered online at www.holyspiritfaith.org before 1 Jan 2009, have been allocated to their 1st choice timing. For any further enquiries, please email to hscatechism@gmail.com

We are appealing for the following resources to better serve our children, teens and catechists for Catechism 2009. If you have any of the following items, VCD/DVD players, LED projectors, laptops, photocopier, camera, video camera, tripod, stationery(pencils, pens, markers), table crucifix, bible stands, Christian/education resources (cartoons, movies, songs, books, magazines, board games, dvds, cds), audio speakers, mikes, which are in good working condition, please deposit them at the parish office anytime between now to Sunday, 2 November 2008. Catechism is the passing on of the faith of Jesus Christ to the young and adults alike. Here at the Church of the Holy Spirit, we aim to assist parents in educating their children about the Catholic faith.

We have 1000 students attending catechism every weekend and urge parents to register for catechism if your child is of age. You may use our online registration to register.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Youth (RCIY) is the process concerning the total formation of a person into believing, living, praying and serving with the Church community.

It is not obligatory to become a Catholic after attending RCIY, however, we hope to impart a deeper appreciation and understanding of Catholic beliefs and practices.
